I was actively involved in various bands from 1966 through 1991 or so. Beginning in 1981 I helped a long time friend out in a local recording facility - A&R Recording. The intent was an 10" EP of four tunes. We ended up recording a few more. A 45 was sent out to several radio stations nationally in hopes of getting the 45 added to the playlist. Yeah, we were fairly naive about how the process worked. Along with the 45 we sent along full lyrics for both tunes, a coffee cup, pen, and fake license plate all with the "group" name - allen/carlson - on the items. We "started" our own record label and publishing company - Revolver Records & Chateau Rippey Publishing - and were affiliated with BMI. One of the sides on the 45 had the distinction of being on a Top 15 most requested list for a college on the East Coast. The recorded songs are available at Nimbit Music, iTunes, Amazon and Spotify. These versions were taken from the best copies I could find as the master tapes were not available to me. They may still exist, but tracking them down may be an adventure. If I remember right we got a mention in Billboard (but I could be making that up).
