In this day and age I doubt some one will invest half a million dollars in a record shop! But certainly is painful to see them go. I've been to this store before, i cant recall exactly what records i got but I do remember one, The Monks, it was displayed on the front window. Also went to JB's record store. we would hang out at Spanish bar, were they had a good rockn'roll juke box, and a then go to a bar next to JB's it was a tiny basement with dj's spinning 60's records. Anybody here knows these places?

the last time I was there (about 10 yrs ago) was really depressing. overpriced stock in often sorry condition and badly presented. These decade-old sharp-cornered 7" and LP-plastic-bags (a speciality of London stores, I think) are so repulsive that you had to force yourself to keep digging, the locked 7"-rags made you feel like a criminal and required acrobatic finger skills. I never bothered to go back after that.

The ebay-ad however is plain and honest: "If you’re at the stage in your life when you don’t have to worry about making money...". This is the "business model" you find over here in Germany more and more: People running a record store more out of a curatorial sense of pleasure than to make a living...
