check this out- a customer in a bar or restaurant would pick out a record they wanted to hear, drop a coin in a box and be connected to a switchboard operator, who would pull the record out and play it for them, on demand! from the looks of it, they could have up to a dozen different records playing at the same time, and the library of available tunes was quite a bit larger than any jukebox... i found this tonight while researching the history of my hometown.
