I bought these 3 photos from the archives of a Baltimore newspaper. All are stamped Aug 28 1966. Quotes from the article they were used in are glued to the back and read as follows:
"To make their music, the Chaparales, one of the many teen bands in Baltimore, use $5,000 worth of electrical equipment -- guitars, organ, speakers, pre-amp, and reverb and fuzz-tone units"
"The Wit's End, above, and the Capris, upper right, like the Chaparales pattern themselves after such British bands as the Rolling Stones and Yardbirds."
It should be noted $5k in 1966 dollars is $36,640 today. These were rich kids. Also it's clear that Baltimore bands practiced in basements, not garages.
As far as I can tell, none of these groups released a record. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
