Clueless ebay buyers

I was looking at that too.... Looks like that 4 feedback dude is battling it out with an arabian prince.....

Looks real to me. $1000 is a good price for nm/vg++. Just a a bad photo. Should have been kicked off by ebay for the pic not being 1000x1000. Here's one that sold for $1000 a few years ago.

compare the label in the recent auction result to this one:

The recent one has no deep groove, the label looks more red than that deep maroon color, the printing has none of the high contrast and clear printing of the originals, and the printing looks small in comparison to the label.

Good seller, but I'm skeptical.

weird, earlier when I clicked on the photo it wouldn't enlarge. Now when I click on it, it expands and now I can see that it's a boot.

Check out the Q&A's at the bottom of the listing, plus the seller added the following:

"It has come to our attention that this item is not an original 1956 pressing and that it is most probably a '70s reissue or bootleg. This conclusion is based on the following observations: -The thick horizontal bars do not reach the edge of the label - later labels were wider than the original and so the print does not reach the edge -The original is a styrene compositoin that is very thick, heavy and unbendable - this item is not thin and floppy (so not an '80s pressing or later), but it is definitely vinyl -The front cover is less glossy than the 1956 pressing and does not have the words "Printed in USA" - this is printed on the lower right hand corner of the back cover -There is no deep groove in the label -The matrix numbers are etched in the deadwax and not stamped -There is no print on the cover's spine We apologize for any confusion this might have caused."

Can someone tell me what type of material some of these old Coral pressings were made of? Years ago, I had a Buddy Holly debut LP, and it clearly wasn't made of any vinyl or vinyl-like material. The only way I can describe it, is if you tapped the record's surface, it had a clear bell like ring to it. It was also a Canadian pressing. I had the Who's debut LP on Decca, same deal, Canadian pressing, same material. Any ideas?

apologies if the winner is someone on this forum, but this seems to be a case of wishful thinking, hoping the Street Cleaners, the Swamp Rats or Tulu Babies isn't totally beat:

Note that none of those have the "not bad" comment next to them.

Knowing this seller, and purchases from him, I know his "not Bad" will be a VG, and worst case G. He is the most picky MoFo I've ever met, and I bought a R&B lot from him of 200 45's, that I paid 210.00 for, and all were STONE MINT, UNPLAYED and He Advertised them as VG- to VG+, so the winner of this auction, will be jerking off, I guarantee it. I appreciate sellers like him, he is an excellent grader, honest, and is angry... He actually collects garage/rockabilly 45's and is IMO a top seller on shitbay

It is 'Styrene' vinyl. It is heavy, thick, and non-bendable, like a glorious RCA-Victor which is a polyvinyl Chloride pressing, and sounds 100% better than a styrene press that Columbia Records so lovingly forced down the throats of buyers in the 1950's to save "corporate cash for the rich execs" Styrene has a tremendous amount of "air" in the actual pressing, thus a cost savings, and reduction of playable sound. VINYL is a pure mix and much better sound, IMO.
