Diggin' For Gold is back!

I see it has "You Don't Even Wink Your Eye" by The Menace> One of my all-time favorites!! It sounds like the best record The Hollies never recorded. Unfortunately I've only heard it form a pretty crappy mp3 made from a YouTube video. I hope theirs is from a better source.

And the upcoming one (November?) looks fantastic:

wow, that's breaking news indeed ! Do you know if JJ is still behind the series ? Vol.10 was more than 8 years old, that's quite a gamble in those blogspot times to get the series outta the grave. Good thing he seems to be back on the LP format as well, after he started re-issuing the Fading Yellow comps on wax. Diggin For Gold remains to those days one of the greatest series ever released.

This reminds me that a year (or more) ago, Warren was supposed to bring back the Teenage Shutdown series to life with new volumes, after some of the early references got repressed. Any fresh news at that point ? Or are those new volumes following the same path as BFTG9's ?

Made me pull out the old comps again. They truely are in a class of their own (even though I wish the glue of the early volumes would've hold the cover together for longer than two years). Even the late P.B.-compiled US-volumes (9 & 10) managed to keep head & shoulders above the comps-flood still streaming on the market back then. It's fascinating how JJ managed to establish (and rule) two comp-concepts w/ Diggin For Gold (transworld) and Fading Yellow (popsike).

definitely psyched for this. a side note: does anyone else have a DFG on cd? and if so, does your copy have sorta poor mastering? or are some of the original DFG records/masters just real thin and compressed sounding?

Boy, those cats from "Menace" look reaaaaaaaal frightenin'! :p

Have 2,3,4 from the series on CD, and they sound fine to my ears, 'cept when I play them on my radio show they come out sounding real f-ed up through the monitor. Sound checks from the air reveal no problems, though.

Mastering issues (such as they are) may be related to Wayback doing the cd reissues. I dunno. Have one of the USA comps and the down under (#5?) and both sound fine to me.

I really want to get my hands on the edition with "Mojo Cools" on it.

Last week I spoke to the guy who is taking care of pressing and distributing the record. Hopefully DFG#11 will be out early next year. Meanwhile I'll use the upcoming holidays for puttin' together another volume in this series
