The great Don Covay has passed away @ the age of 78. Maybe a little off topic for what is generally discussed here, but he was a great songwriter & vocalist.
The author of "Pony Time", "See Saw", Mercy, Mercy", "Chain Of Fools" & "Sookie Sookie" amongst others and part of that roster of great soul singers along with Arthur Conley, Joe Tex & Solomon Burke. It's hard to listen to the "Out Of Our Heads" Rolling Stones era without hearing the influence Covay had on Mr. Jagger's vocal phrasings.
