Easy question (I'm sure) but I don't know the answer

Lately, I've been making "45 double-sided comps" for driving listening pleasure. Slave wager earner here, so the majority are not from my own collection, but from researching and then adding them from comps (etc...) and back to back.

Occasionally, I'll read on here where there's misinformation floating around on the net. On line, it's listed that the Beefeaters released the single "Don't Hurt Me" with "Change My Mind." However, for such a great release, there's little to confirm this. Also when going to the source (aka TeenBeat Mayhem and Beyond) I see no indication.

Was this actually released as a 45 or acetate?

Considering all the work you did before printing, I almost felt it insulting for me to even ask... but just wanted to be 100% sure. Thanks for confirming.
 
I don't get the idea behind a compilation of two-sided 45's. I don't imagine it would be musically distinguishable from a comp of one-sided 45s. I can understand segregation of styles, countries and even states; but whether or not a song was backed with another good song?

Compiling these as 45's is sort of a throw back to my youth. Instead of the family console; where one would stack a few 45's on top of the other and the next would drop after the last one, it's a throw back to my bedroom; where my record player was manual (and not an expensive one) . I didn't always flip the A-side over to the B-side, but if both songs were good, I would on many occasions.

Fast fwd to the present, actually, I only compile double-sided 45's if I like both songs. Some songs like the Huns - Shakedown/You Know (which I found for 50 cents 20 years ago) don't really mesh, but since I like both songs, it works for my taste.
 
Okay, so it's a nostalgia factor. Thanks for the explanation, 13th Floor! I think I have some of that for the HITMS series, which was key to cementing me emotionally to US garage (punctuated with the occasional appearance of a new BFTG volume back in the 1-6 days). Of the HITMS series, my favourite is vol. 4, Chicago (followed by vol. 5, Michigan). In later years I would add a premium to my bid for any 45 that turned up at auction from that volume. From memory, all but two of the songs are own-worthy. To this day, Illinois is my favourite state, musically speaking. There is a signature sound to it which really hooks me emotionally.
 
Funny that you mention the above thread. Your posting was actually what motivated/inspired me to dig deeper into making these personal compiles. I started with one CD-R's worth back then and since have been slowly making more. I find this more entertaining than watching TV.
Almost like that discovery we probably all came to realize of "wow, the majority of the songs I like came out in 1966" ... is the later discovery of learning that we also have a certain preference for certain states. I haven't been up North since I was eight years old (I'm 53) but I sure have an appreciation (thanks to the New England Teen Scene series) for the "New England" sound for sure!
