This is a question that I ask about every ten years - in hopes that someone may have an answer.
Back in 1971, the neighborhood kids and I would sometimes trade music (I was the youngest - seven or eight at this time).
In one trade, I exchanged a Monkees LP for a stack of 45 singles (from memory, 45's like "Monday, Monday" "Chickaboom" "She Loves You" "Indian Lake" etc.. ) but there was one 45 that I've yet to hear again and remains a mystery. I'm sure that a few months later, I probably swapped these 45's out again and so, over 50 years it's still a mystery.
Here's what I remember: This was a one-sided 45. It seemed to be a promo for a band label that was spotlighting their artist's. (going on memory) there was an announcer that sounded like a carnie (something like) "hurry hurry step right up" and the person would visit a room (or tent) where the door would open and the listener would get a 5 or 10 second sample of the group/artist. Then, the announcer would 'guide' the listener to another room/tent and we'd once again get a 5-10 second sample of another group/artist.
Recently, I was listening to the English Setters song "Wake up" and part of that song sounded familiar (as if it was perhaps part of this one-sided 45). I did some searching about the Jubilee record label and came up with nothing.
Has anyone here ever come across a record that fits this description?
