Hi everyone - My buddy, Bob, at Mojo-Bone Rekkids is well on the way to producing an official 45 release of two ADAM AND THE EVILS unreleased songs from acetate (Point Five and Don't Wait Till The Sun Goes Down). Records are currently being pressed so now its preparing the accompanying packaging and liner notes.

On Bob's request, I've been asked to solicit the g45 gang for any information regarding this Ridley Park, PA band: We're looking for information on:
-band members: Adam Brazas (guitar/vocals), Gary Bennett (guitar), Wayne Sakewicz (drums), Frank ??? (bass) (Can anyone confirm this information or support what Frank's last name?, Does anyone know who played organ on Point Five)
-band member details/stories: how old were they, what years, how long were they together, what came before, what came after, etc.?
-potential related bands: "The Nomads" (Magna Sound), a band called "Just Us" (not the Shazam band), a band called "The Groop" or "The Group" (not the BFTG band)
-interesting gig facts/details
-details on the recordings, recording engineer, and/or Virtue Recording Studios
-any related photos

Bob's been in touch with Dave Negative FX, Rick Noll, and Wayne Sakewicz and has started to sketch out a bit of a story but more detail is needed if anyone here has any info to share. I can either put you in touch with Bob or pass any info. along to him. Thanks all!

From the 1967 Ridley HS yearbook...after comparing the pic below they are the Spectres

How they get by with the Marijuana Brass name? sneaky.....

I found three boys with first name of Frank in the class of '67. Unfortunately, the index does not list first names.
Frank Haller
Frank Heckert
Frank Knox

Wayne Sakewicz yearbook pic

I found a Robert Brazas...maybe Adam's younger brother? in the class of '67

Gary Bennett was in the Ridley class of '68. Haven't time to go through that book yet. The '65 and '66 yearbooks are not listed on Classmates. Maybe because the school was new in the '66-'67 year.

Surprised the OP didn't mention the One Way Street Band....re-recorded "I Need Your Energy", obviously the same singer. Richard Scott Ayers wrote all three songs (Energy, Point Five, and Time...). He was from Media PA, graduated from Penncrest HS in 1967. Died in 1975, though.....

I have the acetate but mine has a label affixed to the audiodisc. I contacted Birdman to let him know. The credit is by the GROOP. Title is "Don't Wait". Perhaps their name changed afterward? Dave B. contacted me when he found the Nomads "Point Five" acetate in the early '90s and said he found a member. According to my notes I dug out, the guy mentoned a few other groups he knew of at that time, one being the Groop and that they recorded a few songs.

Some info on Adam Brazas........He went to college in Arkansas in 1964 prior to entering the military (post graduation?) Adam was involved with a group there, the Blue and The Grey, that recorded a 45 on the Zay-Dee label, the remake of "Don't Send Me No Flowers" in early 1966. The 1969 newsclipping verifies the Arkansas location.
so, my question - how could a guy be involved with a Ridley Park area teen group named after his first name in 1966 when he was already long gone?

I would think the Facebook PA garage group would have some leads. I'm not on FB any longer so can't help with that.
Thanks Chris. I suggested he try the fb 60’s punk trade and sell group but are you saying that there’s a fb group dedicated to PA garage?? That would be the place to ask if so…can anyone forward a link to the group for me??

Thanks for the info. buckeyebeat and others. Yeah not sure if Bob was aware of One Way Street band. Not having been involved in this project, I certainly wasn’t.

On authorship of songs, seems like there’s some ambiguities to work out. I think Wayne Sakewiczs recollection was that Adam Brazas wrote the two songs in question. Anyways, I’ll be passing all this info along to Bob.

Have you tried to reach out to the Funkadelphia Records dude? He taught me everything I wanted to know about PA garage.
Including the knowledge of two more records from said group.

Pity if they did change their name to the generic "Groop". Adam & The Evils is approx 10,000 times cooler. Is there any actual evidence that the Adam & The Evils name was ever officially used?

Seems like Groop was first, then changed post recordings. I've found no evidence in print media that can be sourced of an Adam & Co. combo.
As I told Bob, the two songs had to be recorded in 1967 based on Adam's military activity. It is cool to know he was the lead guitarist for the Blue and the Gray "Don't Send Me No Flowers" 45 on Zay-Dee in '66. He went to college in Batesville, Arkansas

The backside of the "Don't Send Me No Flowers" reissue has a pic of Adam in Arkansas College, with an origin note.
He probably went back to PA after the Arkansas Col/Blue and The Grey stint.
Milmont Park belongs to Ridley Township and is close to Chester too. So this is 99% the guy

Came here to post this... if the team behind this reissue hasn't reached out to him yet (I don't think I ever learned his name, if I did I forgot, if you're on here, sorry!) they should ASAP
