Jesters of Newport

While going through a box of 45s I came upon a stone mint copy of Stormy by The Jesters of Newport on Solo. It is so mint I am thinking it has to be a boot. There is some writing on the inner groove - in one spot it says SC-101 and in another there is a triangle and the numbers 58775.

Usually when a 45 like this has been booted there are copies for sale on Ebay and a mention of it in Discogs but I couldn't find anything. I don't remember when or from whom I bought this.

Did I just get lucky?

I think there was a quantity find in the '80s and a lot of unplayed copies were sold then. I have one in similar condition and I don't think I paid much, probably bought in the mid to late '80s.

The official quantity find thread says it was a box of 100, found by Tim Warren I believe.

It's far too common a 45 to consider making a bootleg pressing.
The DJ scene inflated the asking price over the past 5-6 years.

Supposedly copies have sold on Discogs, as recently as January of this year, for over $200.

That seems to be the going rate, nowadays ($200-250). I believe I bought mine in the mid-80's from Norton Records for $20-30.

Original pressings were on styrene.
A modern day bootleg would be pressed on vinyl, there are no pressing plants manufacturing styrene records today.
