Hi there, new member from North East England, UK...

I've resigned myself to the fact I will never own an original, so was just wondering (sorry if I am asking an obvious or previously answered question here!?!)... is that early 90's facsimile repro 7'' of 'We're Pretty Quick' actually any good sound wise or is it (as one person has suggested) a 'badly dubbed' repro with muddy sound quality...??

I'm just after a copy for DJing out and playing at home and a £25 ($40?) copy has been offered to me in near mint condition... just seems a lot to pay for a repro if it is of poor quality...

Many thanks - I won't just be asking this question then fleeing back off to the shadows, hope to have some input on the board.

It sounds like the versions on the comps. The original pressing is much more "punchy - brighter treble and more of a bass boom bottom-end. Modern day digital dubs created for analog vinyl pressings just cannot reproduce / duplicate the sonic quality of the original".
If you want an analogy, the original would score a 10 in sound quality, and the boot about a 7

thanks for the reply - well, I took the bait and just bought it... long time want and it should be reasonably dj friendly even if it is a dubbed copy!

were these part of a set of replica repros (a bit like garage greats?) or just an enterprising bootlegger chancing his luck with the Chob 45? I know it's often frowned upon, but I suppose replica's/repros like this are the next best thing for the DJ without super deep pockets...!!

The Chob, Starfires and Aztex 45s were all booted at the same time, in the same pressing run (1998) by a US based team of collectors, the first batch of the modern-day 45 boots.
