I just heard that Paul Revere and the Raiders will be playing at the Chesaning Showboat in Chesaning, MI on July 13th. Are they still the original members and has anyone seen them lately? Is the show worth seeing or just a bunch tired old men? I suppose if they have continued to play together all these years they would be pretty good still. Unlike a reunion of original members who haven't played in forty years, like Tonto and the Renegades.

Thanks, Manos, but are thet worth seeing? I assume with even only one original member, their show would consist of The Raiders 60s hits. I liked alot of their music. Back then, though. I don't know about them now with only Paul. I mean, I still play, but not like I did/could back then. And, the voice changes over the years as well.

As Manos said, Paul Revere is the only original member left but several of the current Raiders have put in many years of service. So, while I would not expect anything along the lines of the records as Mark Lindsay's vocals cannot be duplicated or replaced, I would imagine that they put on a tight and reasonably entertaining show.

I have enjoyed their show several times over the last few years. Most of the turnover has been the singer, and I don't know who it is these days. If you go, expect a lot of comedy from Paul, as he loves to mix that in.

That's what I was looking for, skippy. Go without high expectations. That saya it right there. Thanks. I do think it would be a good time. But, it is Linsay's voice I would miss. I could care less about the comedy, I want the music. Or, is the whole show just a comedy act?

Save your money Tom and buy a Paul Revere & The Raiders 'Best Of' LP instead....remember the good times.

I think I'll take your advice, expo. And, thanks for the clip segment, kinda lame, but I like his organ surround. I used to have one of those cars. From the little clip, they seem tight enough, but it's missing the 60's energy. Maybe they pick it up on other songs, but I guess I'm not that anxious to spend the money to sit there and find out. One thing that's missing from todays music is the 60's energy, even when playing a 60's song.

Yeah, but, mine was a turquoise color and white. That one looks like light green. Fun little car, but small. Hell, couldn't get laid in that thing. Plus, mine was a 4 speed on the column. Used to bang my nuckles all the time. And, you had to go through the back seat to get in the trunk. Man, I had so many cool cars back then. I wish I could get many of them back now.

I went to see Tommy James & the Shondells and we talked about a Michigan festival & how it would be a nice all day event. I mentioned Tonto & the Renegades, Pleasure Seekers, Bob Seger & the Last Heard, etc. - some other bands that might make for a great 60's then & now type lineup. There are plenty of bands from the Michigan area that could get together & play a great show. Maybe deciding headliner status would be hard, but completely do-able. He got kind of irritated with me at first because I called it a "revival" of sorts, but I didn't mean it in a negative or disrespectful way, I just meant that he may still be performing, but alot of the other groups are not or not as frequently, so it would be nice to see a sort of Friday At the Hideout lineup. I guess he wasn't too mad with my suggestion and wording because he still signed his first album and said he hadn't seen one in a while.

Paul Revere puts on a great show. He's really energetic and gets you into the music. I've seen him a bunch of times over the years & it never gets tired, not even the revolutionary costumes and stage showmanship. This does not at all interfere with the songs & peforming them. He tours with Bill Medley's son, or at least he did. If you want to see Mark Lindsay, you'd most likely find him doing the "happy together" tour.

Mojo, I think there are plenty of Music Festivals in Michigan, but not very many of the "old" bands or even individuals still playing. Tonto and the Renegades will never be together again as a band. I would play at an event with my band today, though, or just make an appearance representing T&TR. I still believe a T&TR Reunion with only one other original band member is not a T&TR Reunion, and even if all of the original players were there, it wouldn't be the same. We just wouldn't do it now. As far as deciding the "Headliner", there would be NO headliner. Only bands playing in different time slots. The concert itself would be the headliner. But, I hear there is still a place called The Hideout.
