I'm not sure if anyone besides me will care about this BUT I recently heard a somewhat poor quality mp3 of "It's A Lie" by Phillip Goodhand-Tait & Th Stormsville Shakers. It's a nice little R&B/beat 45 in a Spencer Davis/ (early) Small Faces mode. I totally flipped over it.

When I saw that there was a CD by them and that the rest of it wasn't all that hot (IMHO) I downloaded that song again, thinking I'll at least get it on a higher bit rate mp3. Well, the mp3 from the album is not only missing the first few guitar notes on the 45 but I think it is a bit slower. The mp3 from the 45 is 2:05 and the mp3 from the album (missing those first few notes) is 2:08.

My first question is if anyone knows anything about shy this is. Is there some kind of story behind it as to if and why the 45 was re-recorded for the album?

Secondly, does anyone have the 45? Can they verify that the 45 version has those 3 guitar notes in the beginning?

The MP3 attached is the better one allegedly from the 45. If anyone with the 45 wants to make a higher bit-rate mp3 or (bless you) a flac file, that's be great.

And if nobody knows anything about it, "...Lie" has yet to be comped so at least it's here now to enjoy.

Glad you liked it - it's nice to be able to contribute something. I think the song I posted came out after that EP.
