Damn, this guy was a great, a true hero.... When people talk about "d.i.y. punk" Fred Cole shud be the first name that comes to mind. I mean seriously, what other 60's garage punk rocker can claim to have escaped the political oppression of the U.S. government by homesteading in The Yukon Territory (along with a wife AND 2 kids! I heard that he even had to hunt his own food during that time, now THAT is some awesome primal DIY punk savagery)... plus he ran a record label, ran a music shop, toured/gigged full time for about 50 years, and stayed married for nearly as long... and to top it all off he supposedly punched out Jim Morrison at the Whiskey and refused an offer to tour as an opener for Nirvana.... like I said, Fred Cole embodied true d.i.y. punk rawness
