I was bored and was snooping around the net today and Frosty's name popped into my head. I did a search and found his obit:(Alec Palao and I drove up to Chico to interview him years ago for the Ikon Records Story cd and he was quite the character and had some great stories. Madd Inc's I'll Be The One / Sooperspy is still in my all-time top 5 garage 45s. It was also one of the 1st 45s I sold my buddy Mark Taylor.

I'm sorry to hear that.
A different question Joey - do you know which of the five guys in the photo is responsible for the killer lead break in "I'll Be The One"?

That would be Jody Payseno on the far right. Frosty is at the far left.

So what happens to a guy (Jody Payseno) who can play at that level for one incredible 45, then never heard of again...?
I talked to him many times years ago and he just wasn't that into his teenage years. The Madd, Inc scrapbook/scrapbooks were in his grandmother's piano bench and his sister took them and wouldn't give them up for the IKON project, due to jealousy. Unbelievably Jody 1st played on Custer & The Survivors I Saw Her Walking (Up From The Grave) a year earlier. What a monumental improvement from one year to the next. Last thing I heard was that he was living in the south. Maybe he'll do a google search and see this post and come join us.

Sadly i just now learned that the great Jody Payseno passed away 5 year ago of cancer. I just talked to his wife Shirley in Texas and learned the awful news. He was the coolest! R.I.P. Jody

A top drummer missed from Mark's list was Keith Moon. Certainly he was a most dislikeable individual, but when it came to providing that driving beat for what was essentially a 3 piece backing band without a true lead guitarist, he was the ideal man.

I saw the Who twice in their 1964-66 heyday. On the second occasion they were in a very nasty mood, arguing with one another and insulting the audience (a foretaste of what was to come 10 years later). But this did not affect their playing. Moon just sat behind his kit, blocked to the gills, eyes staring, mouth gaping like something on a fishmonger's slab. Needless to say, his performance was superb.
