R.I.P. Jon Lord...Artwoods...Deep Purple etc.

Almost anyone my age who was a teenager post 60's and pre punk owned a Deep Purple album. Although I haven't put a Purple album on in 30 years,i rarely turn them off when they come on the radio(Unless it's Smoke On The Water,hahah)..still brings back those memories. Cancer has become such a personal issue as I've become older that I hate hearing that someone has lost their life to it, and that another family has lost a loved one.

Beats the hell out of most of those so called rare hard rock monsters, Mr Frantic! So does Fireball....if they were micro presses, the collectors would be screaming about the injustice of them never being heard, hahah!

Yeah, I liked them as a kid and don't mind them to this day. Black Night was their first song I heard - of course I had no idea at the time it was lifted from the Blues Magoos. I also owned the In Rock LP in the early '70s.

I'm on board with "In Rock" - "Child In Time" is their finest moment IMO. My Artwoods collection probably outnumbers my DP collection though!

He was a led handed goon. If I find the time to waste exhuming the archive of mid seventies mags I'll post documentation of his deprivations. Though odds are I won't be bothered enough to trawl through old issues of Circus to scan the pic of him groping a child. With a greedy self satisfied smirk writ large...

That being posted the 3 show anthology of Made In Japan has (natch) 3 ripping Highway Stars. Trust Heinz's ex-session six-stringer to pull out the stops on this, the only DP track I can bear to revisit nowadays...
