Record Cleaning Made Difficult

Kinda long winded in parts, due to ego, I gather, but worth watching.
Finally, scientific argument for not using any alcohol as part of a cleaning fluid in any percentage

Cleaning discussion
Thanks, interesting to watch. Would be much more useful if they would actually disclose what is in their various fluids but, you know, for 'proprietary' reasons (i.e. very cheap chemical forumlas) they won't. I notice many do use alcohol, but in lower than 90% concentration.

20% pure isopropyl alcohol, 80% filtered tapwater.
I have some 45s that I would have cleaned 25 times or more over 20 years, with the above mix. They are still like new, no surface noise, no visible or audible problems, no deterioration whatsoever.

ahhh, so if i use 70% isopropyl (not pure...ha) a little less water i guess, right?

I was recommended a mix of 3 parts distilled water to 1 part 91% isopropyl with a drop of photoflash fluid. Been using that for about 15 years with never any deterioration problems.
Sometimes I can't find 91% in my local pharmacy and am in a rush to make a new bartch, so I use a lesser diluted alcohol andadjust the water ratio accordingly.
