Post from Mike Stax a little earlier today on Facebook.
"R.I.P. Tony Hill. I just received confirmation that Tony Hill passed away yesterday, December 8 (his birthday). Tony was an amazing, one-of-a-kind musician and songwriter. He started out with the Answers, who recorded the freakbeat monster "It's Just A Fear" (written by Tony), before joining the Misunderstood in 1966 and helping them shape their visionary psychedelic sound. After the Misunderstood he formed High Tide, another staggeringly powerful and creative band, and in later years returned with Tony Hill's Fiction. I was fortunate to have interviewed him several times and also met him in person on a couple of occasions. He was a gentle, thoughtful, introspective man with an aura of inner sadness. In 2014 Glenn Campbell, the Misunderstood's incredible steel guitar player, and the Loons played a set of Misunderstood songs in London. Tony joined us onstage, along with Ray Owen of Juicy Lucy, for an extended version of "Who Do You Love." What an amazing experience that was. Glenn and Tony hadn't seen each other since the end of the sixties. This photo was taken backstage afterwards and shows Tony (second left) and Glenn (third left) with most of the Loons. I wish I could have got to know him better. Safe travels, Tony."
