Hey guys,

Haven't posted in AGES.. Sorry to see this great forum losing momentum after the release of TBM. Let me instigate some cognitive action:

I need some info on absolutely unrelated topics/groups:

LOSERS - I Told Her (Teen)
What a great disc! It's an OH label, but is the band from there as well? Which year are we talking? What would be a good guess $$$-wise? Need to upgrade from vg.

MUSIC CITY FROGS - Don't Say It Again (Music City)
I have a copy that looks unplayed, but plays like sore ass. To all the people who have a NM copy handy: Is this on every copy? Sounds horrendously bad!

BARONS - I Needed You (Red Wave)
Have a very beat-up copy and would like to upgrade. How realistic is the crazy price tag on discogs? (€700)

Music City Frogs 45 was in quantity, mostly from the Ray Dobar stash that was sold off years ago in an auction.
I bought an unplayed copy for $20 and it plays perfectly. Somebody probably ruined your copy by playing it on a portable player, or one of those old model heavy tonearm tracking record players some guys favor. Many styrene pressings have been ruined or destroyed with only one spin on these crappy machines.

Barons - It is scarce but no way would I pay more than $200 for any copy. It's not that good either.

thanks mike for your info, very helpful regarding the frogs (most stupid band moniker ever?), so i'll just get a new copy.

have to strongly disagree with the barons. the first time i listened to it i couldn't believe how good it was. it's not just another two garage ballads, those two sides are pieces of art, i feel.

mike (or everybody), do you have any info logged for the losers?

THANKS!

Here are all the copies of the Barons record sold on eBay/Discogs with the condition as indicated by the seller:

Discogs:
$41 - Fair (2019)

eBay:
$23 - G (2014)
$60 - VG++ (2010)
$154 - VG- (2013)

Due to it’s rarity, and the condition of the two lowest priced copies I’d say that a VG copy like the one currently on Discogs is probably worth $180-$200 at most. That seller is really reaching with that asking price.

i just wish the fidelity on the recording was better. it's really really bad. such a tragic historical flaw. if the guy recording/engineering those teens had done a better job, we now could enjoy this platter in its full glory. As trump would say: sad!

I does sounds like a home recording in the kitchen.

The Losers - I can't imagine anyone paying more than $125 for this. I don't have a copy, so it may be very scarce, but certainly it would not be highly sought after. Played it once on youtube and it is ok, but doesn't make me desperately want to own it.

you're probably right, mark.

i'm a sucker for moody/desperate sounds, so this does appeal to me, but for most people, it may be too sparse or even cheesy.

hi guys,

bumpin this old thread...

1. MUSIC CITY FROGS: I've bought two M- issues of their record, on both the singing is super distorted. They sound like garbage. Can anybody confirm that there are copies out there that play alright?

2. THE LOSERS: Has anybody found out their homebase? I have some KY leads, but nothing substantial.

Thanks for any input!

I guess that it's all subjective, but I agree with Mikael. That Barons 45 (which I do not own) sounds mighty good to my ears.
