Picked these posters up at a flea market today. The St John & Apostles are huge easel backed signs, The Ripcords./Bold poster is from a club in West Yarmouth, MA. If you check the photos St John & the Ripcords are the same band. St John is John Repice from Collingdale, PA. There was a whole box of his personal papers (prom photos, membership cards, etc) Since the Rip Chords were basically a studio creation I guess they thought they could get away with impersonating them. The St John signs show they were handled by the Jolly Joyce Agency who had offices in Philadelphia so they may have played around Philly as St John & masqueraded as the Rip Chords in other areas.
