Philadelphia band. Never heard the record mentioned in the article, was it ever released?

Not familiar with the record mentioned either. I do have an Oxfords 45 on ABC Paramount: You Won't See Me/Help Me; the top side being a cover of the Beatles.

Interesting. One of the BIG wants of mine is their great single "Time and Place" on Mala, which I assume was also released by a small regional label and picked up for distribution by Bell/Amy/Mala.

The "Time and Place" Oxfords are not the same band as the ABC Paramount Oxfords. Fuzz, Acid and Flowers places the "Time and Place" band as being from Kentucky. FAF lists another 45 by the Philadelphia Oxfords: Don't Be A Dropout/Don't Play That Song. The names Stanley and Taub are credited with writing "Don't Be A Dropout" and are also credited with writing "Help Me" on the ABC Paramount 45.

I have two 45s with the Oxfords on Grand. "Don't be a dropout" is the lesser one. Can't remember the name of the other one right now, I'll dig it out tomorrow. Didn't know they also recorded for ABC Paramount

The "Time And Place" group is from Louisville, KY. That was the B side of their 45 on the Our Bag label, "always Something There To Remind Me" , which got picked up by Bell (issued on Mala). They also had a 45 on Mala, and a big local KY/TN hit on Paula in 1970, "Come On Back To Beer"

The Philly Oxfords had two singles on the Grand label in '65, "It Serves You Right", and "Don't Be A Dropout".
The ABC-Paramount 45 from March, 1966 is a remake of the Beatles "You Won't See Me". The title given in the blurb is incorrect.

Interesting. Seeing as I live in Cincinnati, a copy of this record shouldn't be too hard to find.

(And yes, before you ask, I do have two New Lime singles on Counterpart that I'm willing to (counter)part with.)

MTM how would you rate the Philly Oxfords' two singles then?

I tried making soundfiles but gave up. Need a Dac....

But here is the scans. Wouldn't dismiss "Only me" as average though. Maybe only a 5 but deserves a listen.

I think there's been a quantity on "Dropout"?
