Hey folks, there's batch of articles out now that i wrote about the the wild music and wild times of awesome Md. 60's punks Bobby J. & The Generations. Their crucial track "Lost In Time" is the best cut from the 1966/67 Dome label various artists l.p. Baltimore's Teenbeat A Go Go (and imho thee greatest Md. 60s punk track ever!)
A few quick notes on this: first, one of these articles is accompanied by a label shot of the Get Hip reissue instead of a shot of the o.g. label of the Bmore Teenbeat alb. Mighty Miriam Linna gave me some good natured flack for this, but that Get Hip label shot is included for two major reasons. First, i'm working on a stand alone piece about the Bmore Teenbeat alb; i'm saving any o.g. cover art or label shots for that. Also, the reissue is prominently mentioned and (as far as i know) no other Md. 60's teenbeat record from the Baltimore area has been in print for as long as that legit Get Hip reissue of Bmore's Teenbeat A Go Go. So, imho, the reissue is just as historically significant as the original pressing.
The photos i recently posted of Bobby J. & The Generations up here in the mojo Cools section could not be used for this series of articles. That was NOT my decision, that was the editorial dept. The wbesite Splice Today wont post images unless they are at least 1000 dpi (see my comment in Mojo Cools for info on why the photos there are on the small side)
Finally, does anyone here have any access to master tapes once owned by Link Wray and his brothers? To find out why this question is being asked within the context of Bobby J. & The Generations you'll just have to read these articles. Hope ya dig'em!
