The Velvet Illusions vinyl LP!

Some time ago I bought the compilation of all their songs on Tune In (CD) - but it just doesn't sound right. Especially the organ sounds lousy. Did anybody out there listen to this disc? Is it only my copy?

a cd either works properly or it doesn't. All cds that work properly will sound exactly the same.

Tune In used the only source that was available to master from: the original vinyl, unfortunately the tapes are long gone.

The CD explained the reason for the lower than ideal quality. I was happy just to finally hear most of it in as good as available. I'd still give it a 9 out of 10. It might sound better on vinyl; I found that to be the case with The Great Scots and The Remains.

I think it may be easier to accept less than stellar sound quality for those of us who came of age in the days of cassette trading. New digital technology often makes imperfections from the original primitive production more noticeable than it was on the analogue recordings.

OK, I get that. And I am from that age that I was glad I could hear the music and didn't mind the sound. And still I'm not really a hifi-freak.

But guys like Mark or Colin have proven to make a much better sounding rip from the Original vinyl.

I'm really glad to have all their songs together, but after listening to them a lot I regret that they sound that way. Maybe I've to wait for the vinyl.

The vinyl LP will be mastered from the CD so I wouldn't hold your breath, but the original 45s don't sound that great anyway, and without the master tapes.....
