Hi all-- my name's Simon and I run Ugly Pop Records in Toronto, Canada. Some of you might know the label from reissue 45s we've done over the past couple years-- Northwest Company, A Passing Fancy, Masters Apprentices, In-Sect etc. All authorised and legit, licensing secured and bands paid etc.

Anyways, we're just in the process of releasing a Thor's Hammer LP. It comprises 14 tracks (all '65-'66 material save one boss '67 cut), licensed through Sena via Gunnar Thordarson), and I'd like to include images of the original 45 labels on the cover if possible. Now, I'd be lying if I said I was frequently stumbling over Icelandic garage singles at local flea markets and thrift shops, but if anyone here would be able to provide high-quality scans of said labels and kind enough to do so, I would be eternally grateful and happy to hook you up with credit and a copy of the record. I can be contacted at [email protected]

Thanks!

Is this mastered from the original tapes?

No, from the Big Beat CD, but mastered for vinyl. The likelihood of getting masters for something like this was minute, but I'd rather do the LP than not. Check out comments on this very board regarding our previous releases for remarks on the sound quality, which I certainly do take seriously! Pretty much everything we've done has been either from existing CD reissues or, if those weren't satisfactory, our own new masters made from mint copies of records if available. No complaints so far, but we're currently looking at potentially doing some particularly nice '60s stuff where we will have access to original tapes, and that I'm obviously excited about.

Did you ask Ace if you could use their cd. After all, they paid for mastering and tape transfers.
