VELVET UNDERGROUND doc coming on Criterion Blu-Ray in December.

I enjoyed it, watched it twice. Nice pace to it except the final three years of the band were condensed into 1/2 an hour. I don't think there was any footage in the doc that hadn't been available elsewhere.

I found it interesting how Haynes used the film to show snippets of about every significant underground filmmaker of the '50s and '60s. The licensing for that alone was extensive and must have been costly. Certainly added to the visual element, but other than Warhol & Tony Conrad, the VU were not particularly involved in the underground film scene to my knowledge.

There was a tons of footage from Warhol's archives and other sources that hasn't been seen or bootlegged at all.

what exactly? Hanging in out in the Factory? I think the screen tests were already out there.

This, tour bus footage, footage from Mod Wedding (in split screen), VU play tarot cards 66 film, 1970 silent footage. Too many to mention!

The footage from Texas came from Southern Methodist University, posted in 2019, and has sound:

there's also a reel of outtakes with more snippets, and an interview of Doug and Lou, but without sound unfortunately:

Yes but other footage in full is still not available.
