WFMU Record Fair this weekend

How was the show, Chris? I couldn't swing the trip this year. Heard via the grapevine that some sellers / dealers did quite well, a few said it was the best show they've ever sold at!

Wish you could have made it Mike, it would be good to catch up. Attendance was very good, packed on Friday and Saturday, but most of my deals actually came on Sunday. I sold the Shade on Twilight, Apollos on Delta and several lesser items.

Numero Group was offering 1 copy (or was it 2? I heard conflicting reports) of the Cave Dwellers on Jim-Ko for $1000, and it sold before I could even see it. I don't know what other biggies were sold. I only found one low-end garage 45 (Bobby Runnel's Faux Pas on Suburban in VG) but I wasn't looking deeply, I was trying to sell.

A fun time but 3 days is too much! Word was WFMU will be going back to twice a year, which is good news.

It's still just once a year. They're just moving it to the spring (May 23-25 for next year). This is something they started considering after Sandy and part ofthe reason they didn't get the usual 1st weekend in November this year. They originally wanted to do the show in September as a transition to moving to the spring, so apparently they never tried to reserve the usual weekend, then couldn't get it.
Also, the show is moving back to the Lexington Armory, where it was held a couple of times before going to the Metropolitan.

Rob from Numero had just the one copy of the Cave Dwellers. It sold in a private deal which we may hear about on the board in the near future. Too bad he couldn't come up wit ha copy of Pretty, but then, the band never knew it came out.

I sold two semi-big items there, a copy of the Arrival of the Eyes EP that I'd just found locally only a few weeks ago and my Pink Floyd French Apples & Oranges PS. Had my last copy of Sound Apparatus there, but no takers.

Reyes, good seeing you there, and hope you had some nice scores.

Thanks Heitkotter! I had a few things knocked off my list. Glad you sold some semi-big items! I'm happy the fair is going to be twice a week.

Hell at twice a week I might even make it there. C'mon man:oops:

let me say how record fairs suck - I come home and two weeks later look through my 45 box and find a brand new Evil 45 "I'm Movin' On" / "I'll Know I'll Die" ditched from its picture sleeve, without even a paper sleeve. I have to wonder what 45 the bastard threw into the Evil PS to get one over on me.

Ouch! I've learned over the years that to let your guard down in publik & these things happen. i take precautions to prevent this sort of thing from happening, as in restricting hands on contact with rarities until the buyer is vetted & the perimeter secured. Still, in any fast moving kinetic environment expecting the un-unexpected is close to the best one can do.

Scott, sorry I missed you this year. Lack of vacation time, as well as the necessary funds, conspired to keep me away from NYC. I don't even want to think about what I missed out on from your table. ;)
