What does "A Belinda Recording" mean on a UK label? Who is the producer with that credit? Seems to be mainly a Decca phenomenon, as it shows up on the Birds early 45s, some Mojos releases, etc.

Funny you should ask - that topic has come up recently here:

My friend M. Lynch came up with a short article in Billboard I had missed. It turns out Belinda was simply Hill & Range publishing's attempt at cashing in on the success of UK groups. Hill & Range was Elvis' publisher, based out of NY, with no expertise in UK artists. The Billboard notice mentions only the publishing side, so I assume A&R and production was done by Decca staff.

These artists have Belinda credits, according to

Steve Marriott, Cherry Rolands, the Birds, the Mojos, Force West, King Size Taylor, the Daly's, Janie Marden, Jon Best.
