    Different Parts

Great to see photos of the Different Parts! They eluded my "research" in Louisiana 30 years ago.

Honest Truth - Lock Your Doors, Lock Your Minds (Bayou)

I last put out a request to hear this 10 years ago. No takers. Nothing on Discogs. No reissue. Nothing on the Internet. This is the last single pictured in Shutt's "Journey to Tyme" that I've never heard. At least we can now establish a date -- it was reviewed in Record World on July 5, 1969...

    Garage/psych in "mainstream" media

Reportedly, this is the main reason why some companies are still putting out CDs these days. They hope some producer of TV shows or commercials will somehow hear it and use one of the songs, since this may generate revenue and slight profit, unlike the CDs themselves.

    bosshoss official priced wantlist 2021

No, Kapan was the band's own label. I only saw one copy of "Tell Me No Lies" in my life. It is rare, definitely.

    San Antonio garage article

    Never tracked those guys down.

    San Antonio garage article

Very nice! The only thing I would add -- these articles usually overemphasize clubs on the '60s garage scene, when they were only a small part of it. Most gigs were at high schools, church halls, roller rinks, i.e., places where teens congregated. There was no money to be made in non-alcoholic...

    Zakary Thaks confusion

Sundazed likes to remix stuff. Of course, every digital transfer from tape (mono or stereo) is really a "new" mix, even if the engineer does nothing.

Least favorite of the major 1966 era bands?

I admit the term "1966 era bands" was very vague, but I think what I was going for was groups that actually did make contributions to the garage/punk/psychedelic genre, and could be considered "major" because they recorded at least one album and had a national or international presence - not...

Least favorite of the major 1966 era bands?

Who is your least favorite and why? Love had a few good songs, of course, but for the most part, I find their albums rather lame and their reputation completely overblown. Arthur's lyrics are utter nonsense about 95% of the time, I hate his song titles, and his vocal style on things like...

    Zakary Thaks confusion

Everything was recorded in mono. The tape would be mixed to stereo if the label wanted a stereo LP, but of course Thaks was singles and therefore no reason for a stereo mix. (Later people started mixing singles in stereo.) The same is true for most '60s bands. Cicadelic's stereo mixes are...

    The Passions (Pic 1)

Here's some info on the band, based on an interview with lead singer Bill Galyon, also containing for the first time info on their other single: https://nineteen-sixty-six.blogspot.com

Dr. Spec's Optical Illusion reunion (old clip)

I still remember tracking these guys down around 1995. Placed a long distance call to New Orleans "information," the local operator, and requested the number for someone listed as "M. Clyborne," which was how the name was spelled on the reproduction of the Flambeaux label on the Eva comp. The...

Dr. Spec's Optical Illusion reunion (old clip)

Amazing! I had no idea this existed. So great that the local television channel in New Orleans devoted so much time to them. Kris Sherman did most of the talking during the interview. He was lead singer and rhythm guitar, but his brother Scott (drums) sang vocals on both sides of the record...

    The Things (Acid Visions)

https://nineteen-sixty-six.blogspot.com Compiling what little is known about this Houston, TX. group. AFAIK they have never been tracked down or come forward, despite the fact that dreadful digital "remasters" of their songs have appeared on You Tube for years, and their songs were first...
