The last day of the year and nobody has posted a list of sound carriers accumulated over the past 12 months. What's that supposed to mean?

Everybody but me finished off their wants list in 2016 already?
Your rows of "new entries" are too long to even begin sorting through?
People have finally come to realise the futility of lists?

I'd like to make a start but am too busy preparing pathetic little "snacks" for that neighborhood "party" right now. Would somebody else please go ahead? I'd hate to see this treasured tradition getting lost in a year that got rid of more certainties than are good for us.

Quite a slow year for me. I went for several months without even looking at lists, but picked up a little at the end of the year.
I just want to again thank Mike Markesich for Teenbeat Mayhem, which since its release has been my primo guide for all my USA purchases. Without it, I would not have even known about half of the 45s on this list.
Also thanks to Chris Bishop, Erik Lindgren and Peter Pellechia, my main sources for many of the great 45s on this list.

Bill Taylor - Worried Mind (W.C.M.P.)
How could I forget?
It took a while, but that 45 has really grown on me. At first I thought it was a little too C&W, but really it is not at all. High energy garage all the way, with very unusual guitar styling, pounding drums and a pretty wild vocal performance. Love it. Thanks Joey!:tiphat:

as far as I know it's still the only known copy. Superb me thinks. :bucks!:

Your recordings all tend to end up on youtube, gaps and all. These youtubers have no self-respect!

I give it a solid 4 out of 10.

I never keep track of acquisitions to the collection, which really grew in size this year thanks to the purchase of two collections (not just garage, which was in small amounts, but '60s obscurities from all genres).

Some of my faves are:

D-Coys "Now Comes A Day" (my fave of their 45s);
Cirkit "Yesterday We Laughed" flawless near mint (long time missing want supplied by top wheeler-dealer, Peter P.);
Yesterday's Children (Connecticut) - French 4 song EP with pic sleeve, both near mint (purchased via the collection of a friend who passed away several years back);
Hangmen Of Fairfield County - "Stacy"- near mint copy upgrade;
Sleepy Hollow - "Dark Of The Nite" local Connecticut group 45 I used to have but traded away, now back in the collection;
Daedalus - "Raga For A Mountain Man" - local Connecticut 45, thee only known copy in stunning near mint condition;
Vicars -"Love Has A Way" upgrade near mint copy with picture sleeve;
Dry Ice - "Uncertain Love" VG+
Saxons - "I'll Go Wandering" VG+ upgrade
Jesters - "Just Let Me Love You" VG (black label)
Y'alls - "Please Come Back" - via ebay sale that plays VG++, after having to reject copies over the past 15-20 years that looked hi-grade but played with bad groove distortion)
Lots more, mostly things that I like muchly but not worthy of TBM Top 2000 status to most other collectors.

Finally! (in 2017) I can't believe how long
it took to score these 45s in m/m-

BOBBY JAMESON - Viet Nam (Mira)
PALACE GUARD - Sorry (U-Doe)
THE PERSIAN MARKET - Flash In The Pan (Lightning)
RAY VERNON - Vendetta (Scottie)
THE OTHER HALF - Bad Day (Acta)
KIM FOWLEY - Flower Drum Drum (Tower)

Also, thanks to EBay:
CHANCELLORS - On Tour (D&C)

A solid 4, a liquid 5 or a gaseous 6.
Because "4" is by far the most common score for songs in my database, I've further subdivided that score into "weak 4" and "strong" 4". Musically, there's not a big different between a weak and a strong (solid) 4, but when it comes to making listening compilations, the line between what I'd include and what I wouldn't sits between the two 4's.

This subdivision of the 4 score is done in my head, and the reason I haven't just extended my rating system to 11 stars on paper, is partly because it would appear unseemly, but mainly because the difference between the two fours is so subltle as to come down to a matter of taste, and it would be better to allow other potential users of my rating system to make up their own minds. On the other hand, anything I've rated 5 or above in my system, is objectively good, and therefore not a matter of opinion :D

Daniel -

I completely understand your system.

For me it is a little different. MTM refers to me as "King of the threes" as that has been my most common rating score. Strangely, I have precious few "4" votes, but a huge number of "5" votes - a scarce few "6" and a load of "7". For me , a "5" means an OK side - but probably not something I need to hear often, a "3" is not something I really never need to hear again, while my "7" is a real keeper - something to have in rotation.

I find it interesting that while you have a wider scope of "4's" I made the difference that much bigger by basically dividing them in "3's"
and "5's".
