I saw this late, and it's over now, but the publisher of the 33 1/3 books that profile well-known LPs was accepting proposals for new books:

I wouldn't mind doing something like this, though it would be difficult to find a garage type LP that they would consider for publication.

One thing that caught my eye was this:

"There will be royalties payable on all print and electronic editions of your book, as well as foreign rights deals, etc – but no advances will be paid against those royalties."

Meaning that if a proposal was accepted, someone could research and write 40,000 words on an LP and then Bloomsbury could choose not to publish and the writer would be left uncompensated. Zip, zero for your work. I'd never consent to such a deal!

I just clicked that link and read the requirements. The writer must also do the work to market the book! In the olden days, such was the responsibility of the publisher. Not so anymore.
One is better off self-publishing, you will make the money, a just reward for doing all the work.
