45 Thrills

My 3 choices were all based on the "satisfaction" factor.
Upgrading from g+ to m-, because the g+ copy never offers complete satisfaction.
Completing a favorite label run - what could be more satisfying?
Finding a picture sleeve - a 45 minus its sleeve is nothing but a permanent torment until the sleeve is procured!

1. finding a long-time want for a fair price
2. finding a picture sleeve for a 45 you already had, but without the sleeve
3. selling your entire collection for a massive profit and retiring [far better than vitiating it with a partial sell-off]

"Finally upgrading a great 45 from a g+ condition copy to a mint copy" and "completing a run of a favorite label" were a very close 4 & 5.

I never understood the preference to have a picture sleeve if it was issued with the 45.
If I bought a pic sleeve and the 45 a reasonable price, fine, but if someone offered me huge piles of cash for just the sleeve...out it goes.
Can't do much with a sleeve but stare at it. I'd rather listen to the 45 and stare at it. Two over One.

Had these 'thrills' been thought of, or listed, I would have chosen:

1 Knowing that you did not have to pay a fortune to acquire 75% of 45s in your collection;

2 Letting Carolina Soul handle the sell off of your collection should the need arise;

3 Enjoying the fracas if #2 transpires.

Chosing three was difficult, just one would have been easy though:

finally upgrading a great 45 from a g+ condition copy to a mint copy

There's no moment more enjoyable than putting on a clean upgrade of a fave 45 while looking one last time at the battered old copy before it goes in the trade box. What can beat saying goodbye to all the scars, pops and sizzle that always annoyed and reminded you, that the hunt's not over yet. Peace, at last! Until the next pressing want comes to mind.

1) finding a super-rare 45 you don't really like but you know is somebody else's biggest want (you get to make 2 people happy, especially when paired with #2)​

2) trading a duplicate rare 45 for one of your biggest wants​

3) finding a pretty decent and completely unknown 45​

Another thrill for me is when I pull out a record I've owned for a long time and find out that the "other" side , that I deemed not interesting when I bought it , is actually really good . Happened to me a couple of times .

The seldom-heard flip of "Diagnosis Neurosis" by Their Singing Bodies sounds a lot like 'first LP period' Thirteenth Floor Elevators (sans jug).
I've owned the record since the mid-70s but I don't think I ever even played the B-side until last year!

That's like when I pulled a copy of the Lemon Pipers "Green Tambourine" out of a 45 lot I bought, flipped it over and played "No Help From Me" for the first time.

Finding stuff at a "fair" price. probably means it's too expensive for me.
