60's teenbeat with horns

Hi guys, glad to be back, it's been a long time.

I'm putting up a radio show and I'm looking for some suggestions.

I want to dedicate it to 60's teenbeat songs that include horns. I mean as arrangements, not like there's a sax player in the band. More like Werps 'Love's a fire" than the Sonics or Velvet Illusions. In most cases I think these arrangements were executives choices.

There must be tons and I already have a few ideas, in particular some Dick Wagner numbers written for the Bossmen, Cherry Slush and Tonto & the Renegades.

Thank you for your suggestions and reminders !

Here's an example of a reasonably cool 60s garage-y tune that, with the addition of horns, apparently and inexplicably suddenly becomes....a northern soul "monster".

The thing with Northern is that it's a wide umbrella that covers danceable music. This is by no means a soulful record as most would define, but fits the northern bill. The Carolina's Beach music scene is the very same way. Anything that you can "shag" to can be a Beach record.

You could also include a lot of Paul Revere and the Raiders' later stuff (from about 1967 on) if you're looking for poppier stuff (though they weren't really teens by then!).

I know I'm too late to help but Wyld Sydes #5 was spinning on my player today :sneaky:

"Cool One" by Sounds Limited is so cool indeed. Love this one, too, but is it "teenbeat"...? Anyway!
