Does anyone know the story about this 3 volume series?

I had never seen these before but I confused them with the "Unissued Sixties Garage Acetates" that Norton did a while back.

It might be a nice comp, but I think chas_kit's guess could be correct. Because there is no such thing as an acetate of "I'll Laugh At You" as far as I know, so the compiler probably did not use an original source for that one at least.

Discogs does show an acetate with a photo of the A-s9de label. If it's legit.
The sound is different than the stock release (acetate fades on singer going "yeah" a few times which isn't on the regular release).
The Jesters – I'll Laugh At You / You Can Have Her (1965, Acetate) - Discogs

Still, I'm inclined to agree with chas-kit on their origins.

That is a vinyl pressing, not an acetate - currently residing in my collection after spending many years at Miami Jeff's abode. Maybe it's best described as a "different version".

A few of the songs on the Norton's Unissued Garage Acetate series were taken from tape. Mock labels were made for the back cover of the albums, I don't remember which songs. I still have CDs of the acetate transfers Billy chose from, including a few good tracks that didn't make it to the LPs for whatever reason.

Well, everything about the label suggests the tracks were purloined from wherever. The compiler didn't even bother to check the accuracy of his "Latin".
