Allah-Las

I received their LP in the mail last week and it's absolutely brilliant. Revived my interest in new music again, along with White Fence.

Only have the 2nd White Fence LP but it's one of the finest pieces of modern pop-psych I heard in a long while. They'll play here next month - curious to see how their sound translates live.

I've only heard a couple of Allah-La's songs and they sound pretty good without being flashy and hip.

The White Fence sound interesting, never heard of them until this thread came along. I'll have to check them out as I've got quite an interest in pop psych sounds.

My current favourites at the moment are The Belltowers.
They're a four piece from Florida, armed with a Rickenbacker 12 string and harmonies to die for.
Paul who colours the songs with jangle was a member in a 90s group called The Lears.

He recently sent me a promo of their studio album to be released sometime in 2013 and it's an absolute gem. If you dig The Byrds and The Rain Parade this is the sound for you.

I liked their (The Allah La's) LP... but was disappointed they used every side of their released 45s on the album, they know my feelings on this as I emailed to let them know.

The Belltowers are a top group, no doubt about it... one of my current faves too.

Andreas, I seriously recommend some of my stuff, if you want authentic 60s teen sound you can't get any closer, my follow-up LP is I think, going to wipe the slate clean!!!

Paul: imagine you sincerely and wholeheartedly like someone. And that someone constantly reminds you of the many reasons why you should like him/her. Would you still like that person as much as when he/she would sometimes not remind you?

Greg... I know what you're saying, but this is the only place whereby I actually promote my shit to like-minds, I don't mention it too anyone in my private life, even friends and family have no idea I'm a musician, hell, I don't have a Facebook, Twitter or even have a group of others to play live with... so a couple of mentions on here, to folks who don't know, helps the cause.... know what I mean?

Also... i'm super proud of my next LP, this is no word of a lie, each song is an a-side, I think I've outdone myself with this release, it may flop and people may hate it... but to me, I feel I've said all I have to say musically and I seriously feel that my album 'case closed' may in fact be 'case closed' for me.

Back to the topic - The Allah La's are a pretty good live group too, also the guys are genuinely a nice bunch of fella's, I got to meet them at SXSW this year, and I email them frequently, I wanted to put out one of their 45s on my label, but they're under contract with their current label.

I'm very interested to see where these guys are going to be heading over the course of their next few releases, I'm wondering if they're gonna stay to the 'sound' they've currently been making or change a little.... I am intrigued for sure.

Gavin... I agree, I can't wait for the day when a new garage group is 15 years old, broken voices, broken hearts and all, kicking it with tracks in the same vein as 'no-one wants me'... that day would sincerely be a genius day.

I still have a full set of hair Gav!

Also... this does kinda sound like the last ever real relationship I had??

haha... nope!!!! sometimes that relationship as well as the ones with other people can be a huge turmoil and trauma hence the need to digress.

White Fence , People's Temple, Growlers, Darker My Love, Quilt , Sufis, Paperhead... I love them all. And the Allah-las too, of course.
