Atlantics - "Come On" strange rumour

i saw the cheap end stuff show up at a utrecht show for 5 euro a throw. a couple of tables had 100 counts of lot's of early to mid 70's soul / pop / rock . guy spoke poor english but told me it was a warehouse find from 60's through to 70's. seemed to be evasive about what there was in 60's french ep's when i asked about some of those heavy pieces...had single copies of the pricey stuff on the wall display...so they were keeping their cards close to the chest on the high end bits as far as quantity..

I heard something along the lines of several hundred Action EP's being part of the bounty. !

I bought the two french Zoot Money EP's from a french dealer two years ago , both like new , for a very nice price . He immediately relisted them after the deal , so I guess they've been part of that find .

Would not surprise me. I never thought French eps without writing on the cover, missing languette and ring wear existed. That's how you saw 99% of them for the last 25 years..all of a sudden mint and intact is what is being sold

I haven't seen any documentation or paperwork from Wakefield pressings that offered a price list for custom clients, but 500 minimum would likely be the lowest production run.

You absolutely could get a 100-count box at Wakefield.

RCA custom pressing through the Hollywood plant (RCA Hollywood pressings are noted by a H stamp in the dead wax) did 250 pressings. Audio Recording in Seattle had a turnkey custom pressing deal with them and did 250 pressing jobs of local records including the Eccentrics "Podunk Holler" and the Crystal Sect "Days And Weeks".

There have been tons of rumors, tales, legends about the "French warehouse"...
Here's a picture of me "swimming" there...into an ocean of records (early 2009)

Here's the story. The place was one of the biggest vinyl pressing plant from France (in the northern suburbs of Paris). They used to work for Pathe / EMI (then the world biggest record company, I think ?) but also some smaller labels. The factory closed down in the 80s. A huge stock of records (millions !) was stocked (for recycling purposes ?) & stayed untouched until late 2008, when 2 guys (lucky Mr. T. & Mr. N.) spent 3 months there...and bought the vast majority of the collectable stuff (most big $$$ records were unplayed French pressings of UK prog rock). At this stage, records were neatly organized / boxed / stacked.....then a second wave of guys came in & completely wrecked the place !! I was part of a third wave. On my first day there, there were "mountains" of records...you could climb on them & touch the ceiling of the factory !!! I remember making a "volcano" into the biggest mountain to see what was inside...

Unfortunately, no garage records (I was still very lucky to find a box -25copies- of the cool Jonadan EP - French '66 protest garage).

PS: The first 2 guys DID find some Action EPs, but just a single box !! It took them 3 years to sell all those unplayed copies...& get $25,000

Right, Norman Haines Band LP was there in quantity.

Lotsa Beatles color vinyl.

& , intriguingly, a bounty of Pachuco Cadavers... :biglaugh:

now I see where the mint beauty purchased last year stems from. After seeing a couple in the same condition I was already assuming a very well done boot...
