AVENGERS - 'Be A Cave Man' re-issue

Don't know, but the release was muted last Summer, records were pressed and then JoeyD (or an associate) contacted the label involved. All went quiet but then guy behind the release posted details on Facebook the other day.

Gary Paxton only gave Ace/Alec permission to use his stuff. So it's a boot!!!

The master is owned by Ace. The publishing by Paxton. Ace will be in touch with the people who put out this bootleg. The Avengers will be coming out with other Gary Paxton-produced punk tracks on an LA 60s garage package with stuff from Crescendo, Era and Dore (including the unedited version of "My Baby's Barefoot").

Is Ace gonna do vinyl of this?

Who is behind this? Did *they* receive permission from Gary Paxton and the members of the group?

It looks to be the people behind Last Laugh Records who also do the KBD re-issue series. Though that one seems legit they also have another "branch" called Mighty Mouth that was behind the recent Psychopaths re-issue. I remember reading "nothing is known about this mystery group", which is of course complete horse shit, but they have since removed that comment. Somewhat surprised they do boots, maybe it's the old "one member approved it " schtick?

Boot or not, I'm just happy to finally have this on 7" to spin out. If Ace are indeed the ones with the rights, do use all a favor a press these suckers up. These boots are usually so under the radar with like 100+ pressed that I wouldn't get my panties in a bunch.

The pressed last summer and muted must be referring to a different pressing entirely. I released this. 500 copies and going quick. I worked directly with a band member and all other band members were in the know. However I wasn't notified until after the fact that Ace owned the masters for this.

What did you use as source material? Did you get a copy of the master tape, or was it mastered from a vinyl copy?

Thus, this is still an unauthorized bootleg release. Unless you get legal clearance from Ace, it doesn't matter if the band members give an OK or not.

Once again, Ace owns the tapes/rights, Gary Paxton owns the publishing. And Ace will get the lastlaugh...get it?

Folks, I've just received an"original" copy of this but I have a slight concern based on the stars of the Star-Burst label. On all the copies I've seen previously, the stars are big and wide beneath the "Star-Burst Records"l, getting smaller and to a point above it. The record is marked S-B-125-A as opposed to MMM-005-A as per the bootleg above. Can anyone shed any light on this?

I don´t think this have been booted in the past. What does the stars on your copy look like since you point out what looks to be a different pattern compared to an original?

Basically it's like a mirror image, so the point and the small stars are beneath "Star-Burst Records" and the bigger stars and wider wedge are above. The curve of the stars goes against the curve of the label as opposed to with it too
