Seller a-girl-that-gambles is currently offering a vg++ repro copy of The Aztex "I Said Move" as an original. Bidding is up to $65 already. Don't be fooled.

It can easily be identified as a repro by the way the ink on the Staff keyboard fills in and is not clear, especially at the top of the keyboard. On the original, each key on the keyboard is clearly defined.

The label on the repro is not dark enough, sort of a muted black.
It also doesn't sound as good as the original pressing, evident when I play them back to back here in the record room.

Oddly, this auction for this "original" seems to have sparked some interest in the repro.
Yesterday, I got an email from someone who'd seen my copy at a show asking if I still had it. Right after selling it to that person, I got an order for the copy on Discogs before I could remove it.
I wonder if now all the civilians out there will be thinking every repro copy for sale has been misidentified as a repro as is really original.

More likely they think "If people are fooled that easily, I can do it, too" Only a matter of time, until the recent OZ-exact repros will be listed as EX-condition originals.

And maybe over the summer we'll start seeing a lot of Graveyard 5 "originals" up on the Bay.
I'm eagerly awaiting sellers' explanations of what "2014 Lysergic Sound Dist." on the label means. I have confidence there are people stupid and dishonest enough to overlook that obvious clue.

Or will that happen when the Garage Greats repro of the repro happens?

Well there will be some who try the hazy picture routine , including mislisting the record to give the impression they are total amateurs . Otherwise it can be covered by a vintage sticker obtained from another record , or a unfortunate sticker tear which would "devalue" the record a little bit .

On the issue of repros, there is the TuLu Babies on Mar that is green vinyl for sale on ebay. Does anyone know when this may have been pressed?

Green vinyl? You mean green label? The MAR pressing is a bootleg from the 60's so it's old but it's not the ''real'' pressing.

Stay away from the Mar label '60s Pittsburgh, PA boots of the Tulu Babies 45. There were a lot pressed, either green or red label. The sound quality is lousy, very slushy / unclear.

I figured so as I have the green label MAR but when bought eons ago it was for a buck at a yard sale here in the 'burgh

seller reports deadwax of Aztex is BP 194 A / BP 194 B

Teen Beat Mayhem states the repro lacks the BP prefix. What's up here? Could this be an original copy?

No. It is a repro.

Both 45s have the BP-194 A /BP-194 B codes.

The original also has a second, stand-alone BP etched further away from the BP 194 A / B code. The rounded parts of the B and the P are etched in a triangular fashion, sort-of like a pennant looks.

There is only one known original copy that is VG++, BossHoss has it, I believe, since it indirectly came from TW.

Another way to differentiate, as I look at both pressings:

The original has a quick run-out groove at the end of the songs. It hardly makes more than one complete "wind" to the inner edge of the label, it looks like one groove.

The repro has a tighter runout groove. It winds three to four revolutions before reaching the inner edge of the label

Hi blue - That's my Tulu Babies up there. I suspect it was pressed up with the original run of the Mar pressing, since it came in the same collection of 45s that were all from the sixties (the Itzy 45s and the soul 45s I currently have listed). I'm guessing the original owner was from PA. Most of the records have the previous owner's name written in pen and the Tulu Babies does as well. Since there is no band name stamp, perhaps the owner got it direct from the bootlegger when it came out?

The Aztex reissue is now pushing towards $300 with 9 hrs left of the auction... What's wrong with people? has anyone contacted the seller?
