Aztex on eBay is a repro

The Aztex reissue is now pushing towards $300 with 9 hrs left of the auction... What's wrong with people? has anyone contacted the seller?

I sent an email the last thursday, asking her about if this record is an original or a repro, and that seems like the repro in my opinion. No response for her.

Yes. I told the seller that the record is a bootleg, and that the listing implies otherwise. No response.

I contacted the seller - she/he gave the deadwax code as I reported above, which turns out to be ambiguous. In a second message the seller admitted it's a repro, but obviously they're not going out of their way to advertise that fact.

Buyer beware, of course. If the buyer is lucky they'll realize their error once they receive it and return it for a refund.

My guide to repro garage 45s is here:

Not bad etiquette - especially if the seller KNOWS it and is being shady about it to maximize price.
I mean, if you got this in the mail and had paid $50 to ship it internationally and had to ship it back to get your refund? save a collector the hassle.
Or worse yet, it would be a drag if you won for a lot of cash and thought it was real for years and then find out only years later that you were ripped off... Bad vibes....

I reported it. Hopefully they act fast enough to save somebody the hassle.

I'm about to do the same. Maybe multiple reportings will get some action.
I'm usually a laissez-faire kind of guy with these things, but since the seller was notified, this is too blatant and dishonest to overlook.
Hopefully, we'll be able to say that a-girl-who-gambles gambled and lost.

I mean, if she knows, she should know enough to add a comment or take it down and relist correctly described.

No, a passively unethical seller, and an idiot buyer.
I also contacted her at least 5 times to no avail. I also gave her the link to this forum, although that was probably blocked through ebay messaging. I reported the item to ebay but they really don't give a shit.

I remember predicting this would happen when those bootlegs came out (10? years ago).

People have been selling 1970s pressings of the Elevators LPs as "originals," and getting original prices for them, for a long time now. Insert P.T. Barnum quote here.

Hell0- I just found this forum, and would like to know if the bootleg of this record that I just acquired is worth anything, or in demand? Thanks in advance if you know!

Welcome to the forum.
The bootleg goes for about $10.
It's in demand in that it's a cool record and few can afford an original when a real one does show up, which is almost never. But it was pressed in sufficient quantities, so it will probably always be a $10 record.

I made the assumption that you are the winner of the eBay auction that started this thread. If not - never mind :).
