Best UK Punk band 1977

The Rich Kids: such a pity their album soundwise is pretty lame (produced by Mick Ronson btw).
The Adverts: one my fave of the '77 class (Gaye Advert 😍....)

Great clip anyway!!!

To me the Rich Kids were a great power pop band , but the Damned for me had the best '77 punk song - New Rose - and Neat , Neat , Neat is not far behind . I always liked the Adverts , but seeing Howard Pickup with his receeding hairline singing background on Bored Teenagers is pretty hilarious .

Great stuff. Hadn't seen it before. Sounds so much better that Ghosts of Princes in Towers. As for The Damned, not much beats the Machine Gun Etiquette LP. And yeah, Crossing The Red Sea with the Adverts is also a banger.

I like it. Although I'd heard/read of the Richs Kids before, I would not have been able to identify any of their music.

After hearing Saints - "(I'm) Stranded" for the first time, most UK bands (familiar to me) suddenly... no longer sounded as exciting. I confess that here it is... decades later, and this Rich Kids music does indeed sound good to my ears. I'm late on this one, but look forward to further checking them out.

--- update. Hard to believe that this group contained an (s)ex pistol and future members of ??? Visage and Ultravox. I would never have guessed.
