BFTG 9, 10 and 11(!)

Boss Hoss, 'Problem Child' is one of the first tracks i think of when the term '60's punk' comes to mind! i love that tinny/cutting trebley guiar and the vocalist has just enuff attitude to push this into the toughest punk realm. Other examples of snarlin but subtle: Intruders 5 on Grog! or Neil Patrick Williams & The Inner Prism.

I don't really have complaints about the new BFTG, it's a flawless comp )(as they all are, cept for vol 2; i never been a big fan of The Brigands' track on there)

though it should be noted that, imho, the High Spirits track can't really be called 'punk' as it lacks the ragin snotty vox of most of the other tunes on here. Just cuz it aint aggro as hell though doesn't mean it's not great, it's fine teen garage rocker with a wild solo well worth reissue.

As far as the repeated tracks go, depending on how many and (more importantly) which tracks are repeated from comp-to-comp, i think it's awesome to have multiple version of these various obscure garage tracks. the sound quality and engineering of each re-issue makes their individual appearances unique (plus u get multiple awesome versions of some the greatest pieces of music ever recorded - how can that not be great?!)...and, again imho, each different comp appearance presents a great chart of a track's cultural significance (i.e., a trackstarts out on 45 self-released by a teen band, then it's re-issued on a shoddy bootleg in the 70's, then it gets a better sound quality re-issue on a slightly less shoddy boot, then it gets a legit re with roarin sound, the it gets a legit w/ roarin sound AND the full band story, and bam! what began as teens killin time in the suburbs attains the status of iconic post-War Americana at its finest)

The Groobies not recording a 45 definitely sucks though:p

Those guys sound like the coolest thing around!

Super stoked about these new Graves! Put in my order to Crypt HQ last week and am regularly checking the mail box in eager anticipation! Thanks everyone for the previews!

"Problem Child" is textbook BFTG as far as I'm concerned - the affected vocal, the tinny guitar, hell the entire concept of a female "problem child" is as pure a crystalization of sixties punk as one could hope for....

Now that the new BFTG's are out, there's one track that seems to have been rejected from Tim Warren's little sampler that he posted on his FB a few months back when he first made his announcements. Every other track that I heard however, was featured.

Anybody care to shed some light as to who this is? Unfortunate that it got rejected, because it sounds great! Maybe we get to hear it on "Last of the GPU?"

I've been spinning both volumes for a coupla days now and I love'em both. Killer sets with great sound. To my personal taste The Starfyres sucks a** but I do get why it's included. It's punky and sounds cool - I just don't like the song haha. I'd been surprised if I liked everything on both volumes though - so it's not a complaint. The Raevins is a total mutha and a scoop as well! The Growing Concern LP is a fave on Mainstream and it's incredible to hear the 1st version of one of the best songs on the LP on a BFTG :)

9 & 10 'd make great EP. or better yet, any number of 45's.

No shortage of candidates, that's for sure...

Any four/two tracks, ex the odious outro, would do nicely.

Hmm, my choice would be :

45- Donshires b/w Expressions. or the Other Way Around, whatever...

EP would be impossible, though I'd include Animal.

Both #9 and #10 are 'home runs with the bases loaded' as you
might expect from Tim and BFTG franchise. Some of the funnier
cover art in the series too. Plus, I fully endorse the inclusion of
Problem Child because:
1) I never get tired of hearing it.
2) It is now officially enshrined as a 'BFTG track' in perpetuity.
Almost everything else on these two volumes was new to me,
so....BOO-YAH!

I know I am embarrassingly late to the BFTG 9 & 10 party but some of us are so friggin' skint it is ridiculous. Anyway, it was my birthday last week and my wife buys me No. 9.:D.

Loving it so much. too good to choose a fave -The Donshires right now seems to be closely in the lead for now and lagging behind in the mud is Animal my least favourite, in fact, I just don't like it. Kinda sounds like heavy rock to my poor ears.

Luckily, my wife has found a corker of a job doing left wing fund raising for a women's issues charity and the money for number 10 and other vinyl avenues will be reopening. Now, just to buy back those 45's I had to sell over the last few years to pay those bills.

Just tried ordering a CD from cryptrecords.com. Totally useless site for anyone outside of Germany. Much worse than their old site! Anyone know where else I can buy the digipac BFG8?

The old site might be cached on your computer. The new site has a shopping cart, and is super easy.

No, definitely not cached - shopping cart there alright, and I more than double checked everything with cookies enabled just to make sure. It still behaves as if you're a German customer. Maybe it's not designed to work on modern Apple Macs or in Australia, but if that's so it just reinforces my point.
