BILL TAYLOR Worried Mind on W. C. M. P. out of Arcadia, Ca.

Well I really like that Frantic. Thanks for taking the time to share it . Definitely get the Animals vibe. That descending, finger picking in a minor key put me in mind of The Velvet Illusions. That's a top find, worth saving for a decent comp I'd say.
Congratulations:kool:

A. then Steve was stationed in Corvalis, Ore. where Corby continued then back to L. A. in 1965 and ended in 1970.

No Place to go, no where to be
A black cloud hangin' over me
Been gone for a long long long time
I might say I have a worried mind

Well a smoke filled room and a empty chair
across the room I see someone there
Is someone lookin' at me?
Is it my girl? what can it be?

You gotta help me
I got a worried mind
Help me
I got a worried mind
Help me
I got a worried mind
Help me
Oh please help me
Help me
Oh please help me
Help me
Oh please help me

Here's what I'm hearing Joey. Kind of makes some sense too? Still think this is really great too.

The guitarist is that a slow tremolo effect?? And detuned perhaps! ain't no slouch the not backwards but trying to be backwards lead parts are mouth watering?

I'd never describe this as soul either! \

WOW...What a phone conversation. Corby, W. C. M. P. and tons of other early Hollywood labels history, Kim Fowley stories etc. Early teeners, instros and surf records. I'm setting up interviews and will do a story in Ugly things about their 10 year history. If Mike'll have it. I might get a call back in a few minutes hopefully informing me that Bill Taylor was actually Jerry Zaremba. One of the 3 label owners that I talked to thinks it was but wasn't sure. The tape machine in the above photo was used for recording Bill Taylor, The Giant Crab, Bedpost Oracle, Deuces Wild, Kim Fowley, Jerry Rama and more!!!

Wow! Great work Frantic, you're all over that. Looking forward to reading about another forgotten corner of music history.
That guitar sound is almost like pedal steel in places. Might just be my dodgy ears though:icon_rolleyes:

The Corby/W.C.M.P. labels 45s were pressed at Alberti in Monterey Park, Ca. They are still in business to this day!!!

Ok here we go again. This could be a first on the forum. I discover a totally unknown song, I share it with you guys and keep feeding you updates as I get them. Cool or what? On an earlier post I wrote that the writer of Worried Mind was J. Zaremba which I found out is/was Jerry Zaremba (dead) I thought that since he wrote both sides of the 45, that Jerry might actually be Bill Taylor.. Yesterday I talked at length to one of the 3 studio/publ. co. owners and while he didn't remember any Bill Taylor he remembered Jerry Zaremba very well and agreed with me that Worried Mind could have actually been by Jerry Z. Well, here's the proof he just emailed me...check out the other songs, Mr. Nobody, wouldn't you love to hear that one. Also, check out the Kim Fowley songs at the top, The Trip (1965) Secret Police (Belfast Gypsies 1966) so the Bill Taylor 45 could be from 1966. Also Kim has claimed full ownership of the Trip for decades...wrong!!! only 2/3, looks like Zulu has some moolah coming. I'm sure that's a old Zulu letterhead since they were in Arcadia by 1965. Here 'tis....

Here's another one I found in the same box as Bill Taylor. Pretty goofy and not very good. But unless one of you guys is familiar with it, it could be another unknown.RIDGE THREE FRONT.jpgRIDGE THREE BACK.jpg They are from Paradise, Ca. right down the way from Chico, home of Boy Blues, Psycho etc. Wonder how they got on a Idaho label. Probably the only label that would have 'em...ha!

Please don't post a clip. Some BOOTLEGGER might copy it.

And if so ? I'm sure no garagehead would refrain to buy a repressing or a compilation featuring the track (probably in a better audio) just because it had been picked up by some "bootleger" or private compilation such as "60 (mostly) Uncomped". (Also it doesnt reduce the value of the original single) . So whip it out guys, and I will run and buy it, but in the meantime..... (I've posted it at my site elminating the stupid skips (it took me just one click with Wave Pad) (:-)

Was trying to be a bit sarcastic there.
