They are AMAZING!!! :yikes:

I got them directly from Rolf Rieben. He also sells them through Discogs - just search for them there.

Very nicely done it seems, as per usual w/ RR. Labels look identical to original, so you could only tell these apart via matrix #?

We had that discussion before, but I still like reissues better that have discrete but obvious ways to distinguish from an original.

I would assume the deadwax is different on the new disks (haven't got my copies yet to confirm)... the handwritten deadwax info on the old ones are..
J-104: J-104-A, J-104-B
J-109: J-109-A, J-109-B

On the original J-104 disc the BMI is incorrectly typed as "Apple Capital Music", with the new release having the correct spelling "Apple Capitol Music". "Capitol" was spelled incorrectly on J-103 and J-104.

On the original J-109 disc A & B sides are not listed on the center labels, "Do You Need Me?" sits on the "J-109-A" side with "When I See You" on the "J-109-B" side. On the new release "When I Need You" is placed as the A-side of the record. There also seems to be a small difference in the typeface used for "The Kids".

good eyes! The difference between the lowercase "a" and "o" is very slight in that typeface.

I received the new disks and the deadwax also have etched J-104-A, etc. The etchings do look somewhat different from the originals, especially in the writing of the "B", but if you don't have an original to compare, it would be easy to be fooled.

The reproductions also have two deadwax stampings on each side: a faint "SST" and "-39884-" for "Say I Love You / It's Not the Same" and "-39885-" for "When I See You / Do You Need Me"

Maybe someone wants to take the heat off the value of the originals. This should do it.

They're great sets, fine covers and extensive interviews in the booklets, get 'em while they're fairly cheap.

Before he passed away, Don Bernier sent me a box with master tapes and other assorted reels from the Julian days. One was a compilation reel that has an alternate take of "When I See You". It's either a demo or a rehearsal because when you listen to the lead vocal and the guitar solo it's obviously a different take from the released version. Sound quality on it is a little below average but still very cool!

Judging by the photos of the labels on Discogs, not so easy to be fooled: the new pressings have that concentric pattern on the labels which is commonly seen on repros; it's not present on the originals.
