Bob Dylan 1966 tour box / 36 cd set

Maybe if they'd just taken the best version of each song, otherwise you'd have to be a die-hard groupie to want to pay 104.88GBP (+pp) for the privilege of going through 36 CDs of mostly (slight) variations of the same songs!

Sounds like overkill, but I'd be interested in hearing many variations on some of my favorite songs from that tour, like "Visions of Johanna", "Like a Rolling Stone" or "I Don't Believe You"

Dylan has the reputation for "never singing a song the same way twice". This box set will either confirm or bust that myth. I'm interested in the result, but I'll let someone else do the testing.

I've heard a lot of the '66 tour shows (I'm a bootleg addict).
Some are definitely better than others as far as sound quality
and the 'energy-level' of the performances are concerned.
Unless it's as well done as the Sony/Legacy Basement Tapes
set, I doubt I'll pull the trigger on this. Good as that was, I
still had to keep my Tree With Roots bootleg release because
some of the stereo mixes on that were different/better than the
"legal" Sony versions.

A listen to the exquisite Sheffield acoustic performance, or the explosive Edinburgh electric set more than confirms this as fact. Personally it's the Paris show(s) that I'm excited to hear.

At $100.00 or thereabouts retail this is a bargain for the ages.

Paris electric is monstrous, as good as any '66 I've heard. The Mono soundboard mix delivers the goods full on w/ such vehemently shocking focus & bite that I suspect I shall never view 1966 in quite the same light ever again...
