I was recently contacted by Mr. Poynor of the Circus after he came across a few familiar names on my West Texas blog. We may wish a different story hoping for a group of snotty teenaged punks, but the Circus we know via "Bad Seed" and "Burn Witch Burn" existed as a studio group and the performing group that actually issued the 45 was a rather short lived venture. As a matter of fact when first contacted by the Moptop'd one a few years back Poynor had all but forgotten about the Circus and did not remember the record at first. But in the interim he's dug through his past and shore'd up a detail or two. As much of a story as there is, I'll be putting it up at LoneStarStomp in the next month.

Pictured here is the 'touring' Circus which included Mr. Poynor's wife at the time and his brother. The band heard on the Offe 45 was merely a session group, but once you hear who's involved it should lead to a "well, duh!"-sorta moment.

'Burn Witch Burn' is one of my favorite songs of all time. Looking forward to the story...

Wow, that picture is surreal.

If The Jerry Springer Show was filmed in the 60s they'd be on his stage.

Hmmm... who could that drummer be? And that clinking sound... where have I heard that before?

Oh.... I know!

Spent a bit of the afternoon chattin' up DeWayne Q. The man's a trip.
