Well, if you call "big band music" anything with strings in it...
And I wouldn't really label it as garage either, it's got rather a surf sound to it.

YES!! thanks for your help... I had bought the 45 with faded labels so I couldn't see who it was, but I recognised "Around and around" on the flip.

I love that tune! I got a copy with the Japanese picture sleeve, which I think is ultra-cool. I love orchestrated surf sounds anyway. One of my favourites is "Night Of The Lions" by Surf Symphony (Mark Eric). A killer on the dancefloor.

Anyway, that one is The Astronauts with "Main Title From 'Ride The Wild Surf'".

By the way the arranger (and writer) is Stu Phillips who did some great soundtracks. "Hells Angels on wheels" for example.
