I have been playing alot of long forgotten albums as of lately and the one I can't put down is Clear Light, what a mighty piece of vinyl that is. And yes we all know about the awesome Braintrain 45, but how does their album rate amongst you lovers of the exquisite and cool sounds of the sixties? I'd put them in my top ten of US albums. How 'bout you....

Cool 'Elektra-sound' rock album with an interesting pedigree. Sometimes it hits the sweet spot when you want something
that was never over-played back in the day. They were pretty cool in James Coburn's uber-paranoid 1967 flick The President's
Analyst too...one of my all-time top ten '60s films for sure.

In 1967 only the "with it" kids would have a copy of this Clear Light LP. Maybe the kids my age should revisit this album and you'll find the Orwellian song Mr Blue written by Tom Paxton taken to extreme agitation by the Clear Light. I guess they got the grasp of Toms' reflections...

I really like the LP, but I kick myself when I see the cover.
Back when i was growing up, we had a department store called "Zayers." As a teenager in the early 1980's, I would look through their 'discount' LP's. Five or more sealed copies of this LP along with Ultimate Spinach + others were there for $2.99 each. Instead of making a blind purchase (I hadn't heard of either band at this point) I would go to another department store and by new discount 8-tracks of Lou Reed, Kinks, Saints, Tuff Darts etc.. --Although the Saint's debut was a life-changer in my teen years, I wished that I'd also discovered Clear Light in my more younger days.
