I've been selling on Ebay for 25 years but with their new insane fees and shipping rules I'm going to start weening myself off their site. My Ebay seller name is RAREREKKIDS in case you want to check out my perfect rating. I will always declare a low value on overseas shipments. I pack and grade well. Payments should be made with Paypal using SENDING TO A FRIEND button. Please PM me if you are interested and once the record is sold I will mark it as SOLD. Ships from Sacramento, Ca. usually next day. So here's my first listing. More to come this year.

THE DAVID 40 Miles / People Saying, People Seeing. 20th Century 6675 Promo. VG++ (Cleanest sounding styrene 45 I've ever had) Would be Near mint but has a rubber stamp with Greg And Nellie on the label. Bought a collection a few years ago with their stamp on lots of records. Pics to follow tomorrow. $150

Merry Christmas...Joey

Thumbs up! The G45 forum got even more exciting:tiphat:

Don't list in the middle of the night u.s. time so some of us can have a shot...or put it for bid next time. Money talks
didn't know I could do bids on here since it's called SET SALE SUPERMARKET. If I list it in the day (U.S. time) it will be the middle of the night overseas. Seems I can't win for losing. HELP!!!

As a forum moderator, I think offering up a 45 for bid / offers in the set sale supermarket is now a reasonable and acceptable option, given the increased fees, taxes, etc. implemented by the popular record selling outlets. The Set Sale Supermarket was initially created years ago to offer another option to auctions on ebay, or later on, via selling on discogs. But we can change the focus; I'm all for bids and offers here.

To alleviate discrepancies, last second bid "topping", and potential disagreements as to winning bidders at the close, I think a rule should be made, stating that once an initial bid is posted here, in the thread, the next bid must be increased 20% or higher above the initial bid. This protects the current bidder from getting outbid by a few dollars, or prevents fights for bid entries / last second bids at offer / bid close time noted by the seller. Lastly, this rule should keep penny-pinchers and prominent record pimps (one notorious Augustus Gloop from Sweden) off the playing field.

Bid what the item is worth to you at the outset. As there is no function for a timed auction to establish the winner of a last second posted bid or offer, this 20% rule seems to be fair and logical.

All bids / offers should be posted within the thread so everyone knows the current bid / offer status.

Anyone with their own thoughts on this suggestion, feel free to discuss.

I do hope more collectors and record dealers will come over to the forum for buying and selling opportunities as a first option. Most of our regular members are still actively collecting, and are trustworthy / reputable. and here, there is no need for goofy, ridiculous "positive feedback" nonsense clutter postings as seen on those facebook sale forums.

I guess I should clarify bid vs. offer:

Bid - item must be sold at the posted close date by seller to the high bidder.

Offers - a 45 noted for offers (cash or perhaps trade).
Listing a 45 as Offers gives ther seller the right to refuse the highest posted offer, or trade offer and retract the 45 - i.e not sell or trade it.

I agree with most of these parameters, although the 20% or higher threshold on subsequent bids may prove daunting for those of us that may consider ourselves mathematically challenged :hihi:

Either way, I’d love to see an increase in records for sale on g45. Like you said, everyone who posts here regularly is trustworthy, and most of us put fair value on our collections unlike the “collectors” on Facebook who maximize their profits by catering to deep pocked buyers overseas who will gladly pay 3 to 4 times a records actual value.

so after all is said and done, what price should I have listed the DAVID 45 for? Not that it matters, Aidan is still getting it.

I think for "auctions", you should be able to bid any amount, but the amount you have to pay should you win, will be capped at 10% (or 20% if people prefer) over the second highest bid. This would avoid having to wait and watch and keep rebidding.

I think bidding would help with the different timezones problem of Set Sale offers .
I'd prefer if it's bids with deadline only , open end offers are too much geared towards the seller . Set a minimum bid that you can live with and list it .
Also I think a cap of $ 100 on the 20% bid increase rule would probably make the auctions for more expensive records livelier .

Interesting comments., However, if record is listed MB $150, and it is something I really want, I would not waste time and effort by bidding in smaller increments. I would respond with a bid of $500 right away. That is what the particular 45 is worth to me right now, regardless of anyone else's opinion. Whatever the high bid is, that is the price that should be paid, not a percentage over the 2nd high bid.

As for offers - a seller is free to ask and profit any amount on their 45 / 45s. Offers entice people to particpate who might have something to trade instead of a full cash transaction, or propose a cash + trade transaction.
If you are worried about "greed" on behalf of the seller, well, then do not take part. Anyone is free to ask as much as they want for an item. No collector is owed a record at a bargain price. I think the vast majority of members on G45 have knowledge and experience when it comes to buying and selling.

Was that your way of saying you would have paid $500 for the DAVID record. If so, bummer for me:yikes::crap:And good for Aidan!!!:sunny::clap:

My system would, however, make more like an eBay auction, and people would be more likely to make large bids, knowing they wouldn't be out on a limb which didn't represent market value. Otherwise it's too much like an eBay auction with a reserve, something which to me can be a total rip-off, and can leave the winning bid way out on a limb.
