Debris vol.3

Thanks Mass, I appreciate it.
Some particularly horrible inclusions on this volume, but also a few unheard nuggets.

Keep them coming

Now this is a GOOD volume! Great lost B sides, worthy of listening to more than once. Except for Bobby Brelyn. I do like his 1st Jorel 45, "Bits & Pieces", an original song - pop-beat swinger, with horns. It got a spin on American Bandstand as one of those "Rate-A-Record" segments, which I have on video buried somewhere.

Is this your comp, Mass B? Very nice job! It inspires me to make one of my own - very soon, to coincide with the publication of TeenBeat Mayhem.

Tho I really wish people would ask me, or post a query on this forum whenever they don't know something about a group.

The Ravin' Blue were college students attending the University of Mississippi (aka Ole Miss). Campus based in Starkville, MS.

Blue Freese 45 is from late 1968.

Hi Massb,

Great comp!
I read somewhere that The Hucksters were not from the '60's (i've forgotten where I read it) - great tune though.

No, as far as I know it's from a guy from California. His nick on Soulseek (where I got it from) is KasketMan.

Waitin' for YOUR comp, a winner for sure :D !

I agree with MTM.... a great moody comp (except for that awfull Bobby Brelyn track) with lot of nice b-sides and unheard stuff and nice artwork (and the linernotes hit the point, too)...l hope there'll be a vol. 4 soon.... hugh thanks to the anonymous compiler!

---> Hello Mike,

I have a 45 of a group called "The Violations". (The Hanging / You Sure Have Changed - DOT)

Do you have any information about this group. I bought this record a few years ago, but i never found any information about this group. Hope you can help me out.

The only connection to any region is the publishing was Beckie Music, owned by Stan Kessler, who was based in Memphis. However, no one in Memphis remembers, or knows of anyone who was involved with the Violations. The lazy person responsible for submitting copyright info did not bother to fill out the address of the members, only the contact info for Beckie Music.

Debris 4: even if a few tracks were familiar to me, and I would have avoided three tracks comped on Ain't it Hard, Party Party Party and Psychedelic States, I think they all fit in very well and all together it was good listing fun. Of the unheard tracks, the Sloths, Teddy & His Patches, Rockin' Rogues, The Couriers, Hartbeet Band, Buddy Peters & Majestic Five and Yoing Savages are real gems to my ears, and I also enjoyed the cool version of I Call Your Name. So thanks a lot and I'm waiting for Debris #5

hugs!

Hi Nathan,
mooooore debris indeed! thanks a lot for the link, I've just enjoyed it. The Fortel's She alone is worth the cost of admission (which is zero, ha ha) . Some doublettes, but as long as it's sound-enhancements and tracks that have appeared on US Garagegreats or the infamous 60s uncomped- series, these people have understanding and taste (:)) so it's fine with me ... To my ears, the best thing about Debris are the forgotten flip-sides like the awsome Takin' My Blues Away, and the Whigg's fine version of Little Girl... I also like the hilarious Walk Softly by the Circles and the wigged out Dawgs-track. I just wonder who could be the author of these great installments (I got a certain idea, tho'....)

can't wait for #6!

hugs from Milano!

no problem michael. i thought it would be generous to post the links whenever they become available so that whoever is interested in this series can check it out. although i noticed someone was already doing that above. i personally love this series, even if it isn't the best. i appreciate that someone is taking the time to do this. the artwork is pretty cool, too ;)

sure some of the songs stink, but i still appreciate the work and time this person is putting into these. i also agree with the flips being introduced. 'bout time someone did that. who do you think it is - cause i've been wondering that meself? the compilers last message also indicated that vol. 6 is already on it's way!

dare i say it, i can't wait! :p
