"except for the parade float footage and the "skidding" clown on bike, all the other footage was shot in the East SF Bay last Fall '14. All the actors are high school students from Albany, El Cerrito and Berkeley, CA. I made this film as an homage to the Drones and I'm Down Today. I shot it on Super 8 color film stock to give it some grit and a late 60's vibe. Since my cast were almost all H.S. sophs we made the class of '71 sign to place them in fall of 1968 (2 years after the Drones '66 release) We shot the dance scene in a church basement in Berkeley this past Oct. The moms helped decorate. This was a def low budget, volunteer type o project. The kids were great, and have an appreciation for this music. I've been a fan since '65. Joe Almeida, Tim Warren, Alec Palao and Suzy Shaw were all a positive response too when I made contacts to start this project last June. I'm an amateur filmmaker, an outsider, diy, lunch bucket brigade guy so that nudge coming from them meant a lot. I'm glad you liked the film, thanks." - Clay Smith
